Nether Stowey Art: a work in progress!

Welcome to the developing online gallery that is Nether Stowey Art.  Sadly 2020 hasn't allowed us to hold our annual exhibition but we would like to share it with you online.  So pour yourself a glass of something pleasurable and sit back to enjoy the show.

We are delighted to welcome a guest artist, Qotob Daoud,  to join us this year.  Qotob is a professional musician from Kurdistan.  He was born in 1974 and his passion is painting and drawing.  The Daouds arrived in Taunton recently as part of the Government resettlement programme for refugees.  He and his family have been befriended by TWR (Taunton Welcomes Refugees) which will be one of the charities supported by our art this year.

We hope you enjoy this virtual exhibition.  To buy any piece of art, or to enquire further, please contact us on netherstoweyart@gmail.com.

As usual the artists are donating 20% of their sales to charity.   Charities for 2020:

Taunton Welcomes Refugees (TWR) supports & trains volunteers who make a circle of friendship for vulnerable refugee families arriving from camps or direct from countries of conflict.  It helps with language and also with access to other services in the community helping families integrate and enjoy local activities so that they become independent and positive about their future.  We always welcome new volunteer members who can offer their support however small.  Take a look at our Facebook page or contact:  sec.tauntonwelcomesrefugees@gmail.com         Registered Charity Number: 1183921

Hidden Voices Somerset (HVS) is a local response to Modern Slavery and all forms of exploitation. Our primary focus is building asset-based community resilience through grassroots local groups - already established in Sedgemoor, Minehead and Chard, who themselves are training new church and community groups, businesses and schools using clear and consistent Apps, tools and resources provided by The Clewer Initiative, to identify and report modern slavery and exploitation.          Registered Charity Number: 249398

The project has two key elements:  Provision of Victim Support and building of an effective, self-sustaining Anti-Slavery Network across Somerset.
